Public Transport Information Website Expertise

• We carried out a technical evaluation of a major public transport / walking / cycling journey planner website (TravelBristol.org), and advised on a policy strategy for taking it forward. Our suggestions were incorporated in the new design of the site.

• John Austin is the co-author of 'Public Transport Information Web Sites - How to Get It Right - A Best Practice Guide' (with Susan Kenyon and Glenn Lyons), ISBN 1-870214-90-0. This can be also accessed from the Transport Research Group, University of Southampton, website here. 

• John Austin initiated the 'UK Public Transport Information' website in 1996 and managed it until 1999, subsequently providing advice to its new owners. Whilst the site no longer exists, prior to the growth of Traveline and other systems this was a pioneering and invaluable directory of information on public transport services in Great Britain, Northern Ireland and the surrounding islands.
